I was born and raised in the Greater Pensacola area and have been a member at Ever'man for the last few years. I am a graduate of the University of West Florida with a degree in Organizational Communication. I am currently employed at Exit Realty N.F.I., where I manage the REO department. I enjoy volunteering my time coaching a baseball team at Trinitas Christian School and serving the community with fellow members of Christ Church in Pace, FL.

My wife and I were introduced to the natural and whole foods movement through two books recommended by our friends, Nourishing Traditions and The Maker's Diet. After reading these books, our eyes were opened to the importance of diet, nutrition, and wellness principles. We embraced the organic whole foods lifestyle and have never looked back. Ever'man is particularly important to our family now, because we recently discovered that my wife is gluten sensitive. Ever'man provides options for us that we cannot get anywhere else, and for that we are fiercely loyal.

I am honored to be a board member at Ever'man Natural Foods. In addition, I look forward to sharing my talents and time with the Ever'man community, so that we can make Ever'man everything it can and ought to be. My hope is to continue the spread of information and awareness about natural and whole foods in the Greater Pensacola Area. Through hard work and cooperation we can help improve the quality of life for everyone in our area.

I first joined the Ever’man Co-op on 12th Avenue in ‘ 76 after moving here as a Navy Family, loved it enough to return for retirement in 1980. I began at the “bottom” as a Volunteer (mid-80’s) sorting “trash” behind the Quonset hut on 9th Avenue, jumped at the chance to work inside (part-time employee, later full-time), simply to learn more.

I was elected to the Board on 9th Avenue, became Chairman of Expansion Committee for the Garden St. location, a thrilling accomplishment when I see the thousands of people that have shopped here, worked here, attended seminars, & received answers in their search for wellness.

My main focus is to continue serving this wonderful community of people who need our help to learn and live better, healthier lives. I started the Herb Study Group and a Cancer Study Group to help members fight this ever-increasing killer, teaching how to both prevent & reverse illness with natural means (and to learn more myself).

I have had many diverse careers: B.S./ M.S. Degrees from Auburn University (Foods & Nutrition); an Instructor at Auburn (Foods & Nutrition); Instructor -PJC (Nutrition); Student - Clayton College (Holistic Nutrition); a former R.D. / Therapeutic Teaching Dietitian in Penn., Mass, & Virginia; WF Homebuilder / Florida Lic. Res. Contractor; Real Estate Broker & Commercial Developer .

Besides my husband, 3 children & grandchildren, my first love remains Food and Health and all things related.

I’ve lived in Pensacola most of my adult life and have been an Ever’man member since its location on 12th Avenue. I currently attend Pensacola State College where I’m studying Graphic Design. I’m active in several non-profit community organizations including Earth Day Pensacola, Open Books, and Sustainable Gulf Coast. I love the fact that Ever’man not only is a place to buy wholesome food, but that it’s also a place that promotes environmental sustainability, cooperative values, and community involvement. I’m excited about being on the board and look forward to helping Ever’man continue with its important mission.

I began my business and co-op career in 1974 as a member of Nature’s Bakery coop in Madison, Wisc. In 1976, along with my wife, Kate, we opened a macrobiotic organic foods restaurant and bakery and operated them until 1990 when we moved to Pensacola. I started a carpet cleaning company here in Pensacola, Pro Clean Restoration and Cleaning, which I continue to own and operate. My wife and I (and our daughter and now son-in-law and grandchildren) have been eating a macrobiotic diet since 1974 and love the fact that we can purchase all the necessary food to maintain that diet at Ever’man. As a board member, my desire is to see the store run as efficiently as possible in order to have the lowest prices, the most pleasant atmosphere and the happiest employees. I also would like to see Ever’man lead the way in educating the community about the benefits of eating organic foods.

I have a B.S. from Boston University in TV/Film and Educational Media and have been a teacher at Montessori School of Pensacola for over five years.

I see being an Ever'man board member as a chance to help spread the importance of healthy food options in our community. I have experience with management, environmentally and socially conscious organizations, and in the arenas of education and awareness. Having worked in media (PBS, BBC in London, and children’s publishing), I know that what is presented to the mainstream public is not normally healthy and/or green. Also, having been a teacher, I see what children eat, and how obesity is on the rise, and believe that it starts at a young age.

I am the children's coordinator for the local Greater Good Music, Art, and Children's Festival and also volunteer with the children's activities of another festival in Live Oak, FL. I hope that Ever'man will continue to be a leader in health, wellness and community service.

Dawn Vorthmann

My name is Dawn Vorthmann and I was appointed to the Board in September, 2007 and elected Treasurer in March, 2008. In my career I have earned a Florida CPA certification, an MBA, and a BA in Accounting from UWF. I have over 20 years experience, including three years as an IRS agent, public auditing, and teaching at PJC.

I have been an active Ever'man member for many years, and have taught several seminars at Ever'man on nutrition, natural health, and detoxification. One of my passions is protecting our environment, especially through recycling. Another is educating the public on the importance of organics and healthy diet.

I became interested in serving on the Board so that I could utilize my accounting background in service as an advisor, and I am excited about helping steer the COOP towards a prosperous future while providing our unique services to the community.

After spending most of my young adult life moving two or three times a year for the adventure of it, I moved back to Pensacola in 2009 and made the decision to spend some time digging my feet into the community more permanently. Since I was very young I've had a relationship with Ever’man. Its existence has been a rock in my life while everything else shifts. In my travels I've visited dozens of cooperatives, and worked with a handful as either an employee or a "working member". I've brought what I learned back home and hope to use this experience to make wise decisions on the Board of Directors, so that together we can help serve our beautiful and diverse community.

I am a mother of two young boys and an artist. I was born and raised in Pensacola. I earned an A.S. in Graphic Design in 1998 and an A.A. in Education in 2008. I was an Ever'man employee from 1999-2007. I had many duties and worked in several departments during my time as an employee. A majority of my time was spent working in the grocery department and running the bulk herbs department. I educated the staff and customers on herbal medicine, natural foods and health. I enjoy learning how to grow and use medical herbs. After taking a year off to raise my family, I ran for the board of directors Ever'man and was elected in 2008. I look forward to many more years of service to our members and community. I am currently attending UWF, pursuing a bachelor's in Elementary and Exceptional Education.

I am a native Pensacolian and lifetime member of Ever'man. I love this area and have an investment and commitment to see our community thrive and prosper, especially in the areas of health and wellness. My experience as a mother, teacher, and massage therapist, has prepared me to serve the Ever'man community. Over the years I have read, studied and applied many whole food and wellness principles to create a healthy lifestyle for myself, my family and my clients. My long experience in health and wellness will assist Ever'man in making the important upcoming decisions we face as a cooperative. I will bring a sense of calm, peace and serenity to this work. I am honored and thrilled to serve on the Ever'man board!
